A medieval tower at the highest point of the town Stories

Castiglion Fiorentino ar

It's the legitimate symbol of Castiglion Fiorentino, the Cassero tower is like a beautiful and timeless woman.

From its 35 meters on the sea level, it embraces the Valdichiana and the Val di Chio, with an eye on the Montecchio Castle that stands a few kilometers away, also in the municipality of Castiglion Fiorentino.

The Cassero Tower dates back to the Middle Ages. It was built during the Perugian domination of the 14th century but rises on a pre-existing Etruscan structure. A wooden staircase leads to the summit (35 meters high): at the top are a bell gable and a large bell. The bell rings festively every time a child is born in Castiglion Fiorentino.
